WHAT IS IP RATINGS IN MOBILE GADGETS

MUST SEE BEFORE BUYING GADGETS / PRODUCTS

IP ratings in mobile devices are a measure of how well they can resist dust and water ingress. IP stands for Ingress Protection, and the ratings consist of two digits. The first digit indicates the level of protection against solid particles, such as dust, sand, or dirt. The second digit indicates the level of protection against liquids, such as water, rain, or sweat. The higher the digits, the better the protection.

For example, a mobile device with an IP rating of IP67 means that it is completely dust-tight (6) and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes (7). A mobile device with an IP rating of IPX5 means that it has not been tested for dust protection (X) but can resist water jets from any direction (5).

IP ratings are useful for consumers who want to know how durable their mobile devices are and how they can handle different environments and situations. However, IP ratings are not a guarantee of performance, and they do not cover other factors such as shock, temperature, or pressure. Therefore, it is still advisable to use caution and care when using mobile devices near water or dust sources.
